The Journey by Richie Tan
Life's journey encompasses the awe-inspiring stages of infancy, childhood's wonder, the transformative quest of adolescence, the independence of young adulthood, the responsibilities of the middle years, the wisdom of aging, and the legacy we leave behind.
Richie Tan’s Artistic Philosophy
"I paint what can’t be rehearsed."
Art, to me, is not decoration. It’s defiance. It’s survival.
It’s that split second when truth cuts through the noise, and you feel something you didn’t ask for—but needed.
I don’t create for approval. I create because there’s no other way for me to breathe. My art is my rebellion against silence, expectations, and the cages people try to put on what they don’t understand.
Born without rehearsal, I step into every canvas with risk. Not knowing where it’ll lead, only knowing I must. My strokes are messy, unfiltered, layered with what I’ve lost, what I’ve fought for, and what I still believe can change.
Crystals, textures, and contrast are not just visuals—they are fragments of emotion, clarity in chaos, and beauty in imperfection.
Each piece holds a fragment of someone’s journey—sometimes mine, sometimes yours.
*** My philosophy is simple:
If it doesn’t move you, it’s not worth hanging.
And if it doesn’t challenge you, it’s not worth creating.
